I never really knew Mrs. McClary but I know she was a very nice christian lady. When she helped me with english I could really tell that she really cared about me. Even though I never really knew her I can still say that I truly love her.

I met Brother and Mrs. McClary when they came to my home church in Pa, Vernon Baptist, around 2004. Brother McClary was speaking at a conference at our church. When I met Jan McClary, I thought, "What a beautiful person!" She was one of the kindest people I'd ever met in my life, and that was evident from the very first encounter. :-D When I think of her it makes my heart smile. Although she's gone, her memory will never leave me. I'll never forget her. Such a wonderful Christian lady, and a sweet soul! I look forward to our reunion in Heaven someday, I'm sure you'll be one of the first people I'll seek to find when I get there. <3 I love you Mrs. McClary! Your friend in Christ, always, Edythe

When I looked at the wesite this morning, my heart starting beating faster, then came a big lump in my throat as I looked at Jan's picture and felt an emptiness. She was always happy regardless the situation. She always made me seem important whenever I walked in her office with a big "Hey Sharon"! I loved Jan and will miss talking to her.

I met the McClary's many years ago. My earliest memory of Jan and Mike is when my husband and I had them to our house for dinner. They were one of our first guests at our tiny cottage. I always look forward to their yearly visit to Pennsylvania. This year will not be the same. There will be no "hello there Tammy, how's it going ?" and a big smile to go with it. I will miss her smile the most. She was a wonderful person. She will be missed in so many ways this is just one of many.

I have had the privilege of knowing Mike and Jan McClary for over twenty years, and they have been very special friends whom I have greatly loved and respected. We shared our sorrows as well as our victories. Their visits to the four churches I pastored over the last twenty years, and the twenty some years I have traveled to Richmond to be with them during gave us plenty of time to become greatly acquainted. Jan was a woman very dedicated to serving the Lord while she sojourned on this earth. Her loyalty to her ministry is unprecedented. Her loyalty and submission to Mike sets forth a perfect picture of the church in submission to the Lord Jesus Christ. Jan was an extremely intelligent lady, whose expertise in English garnished the writings of her husband. Her time spent in prayer and Bible study drew her close to the Lord she loved so very much. Jan was always taking notes whenever a man of God was preaching, and she and Mike published several books filled with these outlines that she very meticulously recorded. Jan had a tremendous sense of humor, and a laugh that could light up the room. During the many times I was being ornery when picking on her “Chunky Punky” (Mike), Jan would always laugh and say, “Phil Thomas…you’re bad!” I can almost hear that laughter as I pen these words. My wife and I shall miss Jan McClary greatly, but one day we shall see her again! Thank you, dear Lord, for Jan McClary. My life has been made richer having known her.

I was saved on May 27, 1976. I met Pastor Mike and Jan at Buford Rd. Baptist Church, the 1st Sunday after they arrived in Richmond to begin the Good Samaritan Ministries. Several years later I started attending Community Baptist Church. On December 5, 1995, Helen Marie, my youngest daughter, ran away from home, and she was missing for 15 days. If it had not been for the prays, love, and support of Pastor Mike and Jan she would not be with us today. Helen Marie is now servicing the Lord in the Richmond, VA area. Sonya, my oldest daughter, met a man while he was in the Discipleship Program at the Good Samaritan Inn, in September, 1997 they were married, and they are servicing the Lord in the Richmond, VA area. Debbie, my 2nd daughter, is servicing the Lord in the Louisburg, NC area. On April 9, 2002, Herbert Walker Shinault, my son, went home to be with the Lord. He was 23 years old, and he died from Testicular Cancer. At his funeral 75 people (mostly under 30 years old) were saved because of his Christian testimony! In February 2005, I moved to Louisburg, NC, in May 2009 I came back to Virginia, and I am now servicing the Lord as a full-time missionary in the Chesterfield Co./ Richmond area. God has richly blessed me and my family. I can honestly say if God had not called Pastor Mike and Jan to Richmond my family may not be where it is today, servicing the Lord! In Christ's Service, Lynsay Phil. 4:13, 19

I remember meeting Pastor Mike & Mrs. Jan at Buford Rd. Bapt. Church when I was 17. They were such a WONDERFUL couple doing the ministry that God had called them to. Later in my life, when I started going to Community Bapt. Church, I really got to know Pastor Mike & Mrs. Jan. I remember her as a GREAT woman of God, who I looked up to. She was the type of Christian Lady that I wanted to be. A lot of times my mom & I would go to the mission to see Mrs. Jan, she was never too busy to talk to anyone. And such a good listener. I later started dating a "mission man" and Pastor Mike & Mrs. Jan were silent supporters of our relationship (we heard through the grape vine). If it had not of been for Pastor Mike & Mrs Jan starting Good Samaritan Ministries, I would have never met Kirk Duer & married him in 1997. Thank You for following God's will for your life (even though I know at times it has not been easy). So as you can see Mrs Jan & Pastor Mike have had a BIG impact on my life. All About Him (Jesus) & Them (the World), Sonya Shinault Duer

I was honored and privileged to know Mrs. McClary. She always had a hearty, "Well, hello Brad!" for me every time our paths crossed, and she made me feel special. A true living illustration of a Provers 31 woman.

Jan had such a love for the children and parents of CCA. She always had such a pleasing spirit about her. When problems arose, Jan was there to smooth things over and make everything better. She was such a devoted spouse to Pastor Mike. I saw her support him in so many ways, she was such a rock to him. Her work here will live forever, because she had so much influence in the lives of so many of us.

I first met Jan in the fall of 1995 over the last 15 yrs I can say Jan and her Husband Pastor Mike Mcclary have been two of the greatest examples of Christians that I have known, their love and longsuffering has made the difference in so many lives, may God continue to use the work that he allowed them to found together to touch the lives of many for his kingdom !
