Annual Report
March 2011

Revenue Highlights
•    42% ($770,000) of our cash comes from mission generated sales and rents.
•    Mission generated revenue pays for all of our salaries and payroll taxes.
•    58% ($1.1 million) of our cash comes from contributions.
•    100% of our Board of Directors made cash contributions in 2010.
•    100% of our cash donations go to fund the expenses of our programs.
•    We received $772,000 worth of donated automobiles, food, furnishings, clothing and house wares.

Expense Highlights
•    87% of our functional expenses went directly to programs.
o    43% of our functional expenses went for our shelter and rehabilitation program    .
o    32% of our expenses covered the operation of our thrift stores.
o     9% of our expenses supported the work program.
o     8% of our expenses went to support the auto shop and other programs.

•    In 2010, we started a GED class to assist participants in obtaining their GED.

•    The thrift stores and auto sales provide an enormous benefit to the surrounding community.  A large number of working poor take advantage of these low price alternative shopping venues to provide for their basic needs.

•    The presence of Good Samaritan Ministries and our surrounding properties have made a big difference in the quality of life in the Hull Street area.  Our buildings provide housing for many low income individuals.  These properties are exceptionally maintained in an area where many properties are abandoned.  The crime rate in this area has decreased largely in part to our strong Christian presence in the community.

The Christian Experience
•    Many of those served have substance abuse problems; some are newly released from prison.  Many have no where to go and would be figuratively and literally lost without our ministry.   Our Christian based program helps stabilize these individuals and gives them hope for the future.

•    In the first phase of the program, the participants live in a dorm setting and attend chapel twice a day.  They do intensive Bible study and attend a community church.  They arise early each morning and follow a very rigid routine, as we seek to instill discipline in their lives.  They do odd jobs around the mission and take on responsibility.  This phase lasts six months.

•    In the second phase, individuals receive job training from our stores, auto shop and area businesses.  They live rent free in an apartment provided by the ministry.  After six months of job training and close supervision, they graduate from the program and return to society ready to take on responsibility for themselves and their families.

•    Our goal is to put the love of Jesus Christ for mankind into tangible action in everything that we do.  We seek to lead those in need to the redemptive power of Jesus.  We hope to send rehabilitated individuals back into society with the confidence that Christ is with them in their lives forever.
